What follows is one and a half days of pain and frustration caused by rain, new boots, menacing cattle and nasty dogs.

This was a looooong walk, mostly because I got a bit lost, but more of that later.

I am dropped at the church where Damian and I finished last time and head down the “Marsh Road” which skirts Llanrhidian Marshes. The sky is blue, it’s a beautiful morning and my first encounter is with a flock of bewildered sheep caught between the farmer in his Landrover driving them forwards and me striding purposefully down the road towards them.

Leaving the car in the carpark next to Llanridian Church we take a taxi back to Broughton caravan site – it’s a bit of a grey day but not raining.

Port Eynon is closed for the season, no shops, no cafes but we do manage to knock up a sleepy publican who very generously gives us a couple of bottles of water.

A whole month has passed and I haven’t had a chance to sit down and write – so my memory of this walk will be sketchy – life happens…….

We start from the footbridge close to the Dylan Thomas Centre where I finished last time – dark clouds are massing but we may out-walk them.

The sun is trying to shine as I walk out of the station at Briton Ferry and back through the town to meet the A48 and the busy road bridge over the River Neath. In the distance is the M4 and underneath me, a lot of mud and a large recycling centre.

It has been brought to my attention that those of you who have signed up to get an email every time I post a walk are not getting the Google map at the end which shows you where I’ve walked.

I fear this post will be a bit patchy as I have been too busy to get down to writing and the 4th May seems such a long time ago – but here goes……
